My Battle During Pregnancy

Sophie was diagnosed with Congenital Thoracic Malformation. Cyst developed in her lungs during pregnancy. The sonographer was afraid that Sophie will not be able to breath on her own due to the size of the leision in her lungs and
suggested an abortion.

My unborn child was only 28 weeks. I did not know whether my child was a boy or a girl at that time but my child was alive in me and kicking.
An abortion was not an option, especially when I just lost my mother 6 months ago. My child was Gods gift.

My late husband and i requested for a 2nd option and were referred to St. Georges Hospital in Tooting. We also seeked private professional help with and found a professor who was a specialist in such cases in London.
We immediately arranged an appointment with professor Andew Bush in the Brompton Hospital, London. 40 minutes consultation later, with a bill of £350. I must say , it was money well spent.
Professor Bush assured us that 95% of the time children with such cases survive and lead normal lives.
Such cases are not very common as scans were invented a few years ago. Prior to that ones unborn child might have the same problem but survived with the cyst undetected.

I continue to go for my monthly scans to ensure that Sophie's lungs were developing well.
Drs at the St. George's hospital Tooting  suggestion an induction at 38 weeks.
